King Starboard® (HDPE)

High density polyethylene (King Starboard) has revolutionized the design and manufacturing of marine accessory components. Starboard's durability against marine environments, ease of manufacturing, and lack of necessary maintenance make it a primary material substrate choice of boat builders worldwide. Teak Isle helped pioneer the use of Starboard in the manufacture of marine products, and has become the largest consumer of King Starboard in the industry.

Standard Sheet sizes are 54”x96” and are available in thicknesses ranging from ¼” to 1½” .

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • King Starboard sheets are made to maintain their color and finish for the lifetime of your boat. Only routine cleaning or pressure washing with common detergents is required.
  • Nylon scrub pads and brushes should be used with care because excessive force can mar the finish.
  • For resistant stains, apply bleach and allow it to soak before washing (be careful not spray bleach solution on surrounding upholstery).
  • Use citrus cleaner, alcohol or mineral spirits to remove grease or oil stains.

Plexi-Acrylic

The use of acrylic parts offers boat builders an attractive high gloss styling option which complements the gloss of their gelcoat. Teak Isle's high impact modified acrylic provides superior impact strength and cost savings. These savings are a result of Teak Isle using higher quality material which results in fewer warranty claims.

Standard sheet sizes are 48”x96” and 60”x96” and are available in thicknesses ranging from ¼” to ¾” depending on colors.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Avoid use of paper towels and ammonia based chemicals such as 409 and Windex. Instead clean all acrylic with a cotton cloth and mild soapy water.
  • Minor scratches and surface scuffs are removable by buffing acrylic with a fine polish such as 3M finess-it-II.

Proboard (Foam PVC)

Foam PVC has a wide variety of applications in today’s marine construction. It’s lightweight and heat formability makes it ideal for closeout bulkheads and upholstery substrates. This versatile and cost effective material is available in white and gray colors.

Standard sheet sizes are 48”x96” and are available in thicknesses ranging from ¼” - ¾”.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Foam PVC can be easily cleaned with standard mild detergents. Avoid the use of abrasive scratch pads and harsh solvents.

Teak

Throughout the years, teak wood has been a popular boatbuilding material due to its rich look and durability in the marine environment. Teak Isle offers customers the finest quality teak products glued with epoxy resins that ensure long lasting seams.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Periodically apply teak oil when needed.
  • If teak has become white/gray and faded, spray with a 50/50 water/bleach solution (be careful not spray bleach solution on surrounding upholstery). Allow solution to sit for 1 minute then use mild scrub brush to scrub with the grain of the wood. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Once the teak is completely dry teak oil should be applied.

Corian®

Teak Isle helps boat builders incorporate the rich warmth of Corian into their cabin interiors and wet bar tops. With a solid reputation and recognizable trade name, Corian offers an attractive high-end styling option.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Most dirt and residue can be removed with mild soap. Rinse and wipe completely dry in order to prevent hard water marks. Commercially available solid surface cleaners also work well.
  • Do not place hot pots, pans, etc. directly on countertop surface. Use a trivet or hot pad.

Treated Plywood

Treated plywood is often used in marine lamination substrate applications. This Plywood is treated to resist decay and is the most cost efficient lamination substrate option.

Sparalloy®

Sparalloy is a unique blend of plastic materials designed to give the boat builder an additional lamination substrate option. This cellular material has the water resistance of plastic while maintaining superior screw retention. It is ideal for bulkheads, mounting blocks, and other various lamination parts.

King Starlite®

King Starlite is a marine grade utility sheet made from select high-grade King Starboard recycled polymer material.  It is popular as an upholstery substrate and other non-visible applications due to its light weight (up to 35% percent lighter than starboard). King Starlite is often used in Teak Isle's tackle center rear boxes to reduce the weight of these components. Starlite will not swell or delaminate when exposed to the humidity and moisture of the marine environment.

Standard sheet sizes are 60”x 96” and are available in thicknesses ranging from ½” – ¾“.
